Another good one

Shout out to Crystal Kid for an awesome cover of MJ's They Don't Care About Us.

They should have won the AMP Radio Competition that Summer, and again this month.  They still did good though, and made all their fans proud.

I am in love with this song, and her voice in general.

Going Wild with Brian Keating

Brian Keating is one of the coolest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  He was a guest professor for the last half of my first Anthropology class, and is a big part of the reason I decided to pursue a BSC in Anthropology (Primatology).

He is now retiring from the Calgary Zoo, and has his own show on the Discovery Channel called "Going Wild".  It's an adventurous nature travels show, and it looks awesome.  I hope that it starts soon!

Also check out Civilized Adventures, which Brian Keating has been a big part of.  I would love to do one of their trips (with Brian if possible) one day.

something I've been thinking about today

Growing up, my parents always taught me to 'treat others as I'd like to be treated' and always be 'the bigger person'.  I've always thought that of anything in the Bible, those were decent principles to apply.  Sometimes I wonder how beneficial this policy is though when faced with utterly impossible people.

If you try, try, and try again, when does it become enough?  Perhaps instead of trying to turn the proverbial cheek to the one antagonizing you, you need to give that person a good smack in the face.  Erm, figuratively speaking of course...*cough, cough*  Although I am going to Cardio Kickboxercise on Monday ;)

Anyways...

It's almost 3 am, and I finally finished my essay a short while ago.  Now of course, I cannot fall asleep.  And I need to wake up tomorrow morning to study for my last RELS201 test ever *sigh*.  At least that means that I will never again have to deal with Dr. Mr. Jekyll Hyde again *jumps up and down*.

And Friday is BSD!  Huzzah!  However... the snow is coming down pretty hard at the moment, and wet flurries are in the forecast for Friday...*grumble*.  I guess the celebrations will just need to take place somewhere warm, dry, and preferably indoors.  The Den, anyone?

Also, will the real Persephone please stand up, please stand up, please stand up? (note: to the melody of 'the real slim shady')  I want Spring!
Yes, I'm a dork.  Currently I'm blaming it on the frying of my brain from all this Greek mythology nonsense.

Over and out.

Welcome to the World Little Adam!

My step-sister gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby boy, weighing 5 lbs, 15 ounces.  He was born at 12:26 am on Monday April 4th!

fresh look for Spring

Is there anything better than when the snow starts to melt and the sun starts to shine?  I just hope that now we actually get some April showers and May flowers instead of more snow or constant downpours of rain *crosses fingers super tightly*.  Pretty please with a cherry on top mother nature?

I want to plant my tulips this year, and lily of the valley too maybe...

Come on Spring, we believe in you!  You can beat mean old Winter!

In order to show my support for Spring, I have given my blog it's usual season changing fresh look.  It makes me smile and dream of warm weather, river rafting, spring flowers, and other such wonderful things...

A night at the Ballet

I have been dying to see the Nutcracker for a very long time.  And seeing as it's my champagne birthday this year... I've been thinking it might be the perfect way to celebrate.

I was looking at the 2011/2012 Alberta Ballet season, and not only is the Nutcracker playing this season (as usual), but also Swan Lake!  Another one I have always wanted to see!  Especially after watching Black Swan.

Hmmm... I'm thinking I might have to get a combo pack.  As a student, you can get a package of 3 ballets for a pretty decent price... *contemplates*

If I did do that there are a couple of other ballets to choose from that look very good also... Cinderella and Wonderland.

But maybe seeing 3 ballets in one season would be too much.  We'll see.

a new discovery

I just discovered that there is a place in Calgary where you can buy delicious macarons!  It's called M for Macaron and they are at the Kingsland Farmers Market Thurs-Sun... I might have to check that out this weekend...

Ok back to studying... *it's almost Summer, it's almost Summer...*
